New Zealand’s Antarctic Scientific Drilling Program

New Zealand contributes scientific and logistic leadership to the ANDRILL program. Our current national efforts continue a strong tradition of scientific and technological achievement in Antarctic geological drilling.

New Zealand participation in ANDRILL

National participation in the International ANDRILL programme is facilitated through membership of the ANDRILL Science Committee (ASC). National Representatives on the ASC are Prof Tim Naish (Chair, VUW) and Dr Rob McKay (VUW).

Support for New Zealand involvement in ANDRILL is provided through an award to GNS Science from the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment.

Antarctica New Zealand provides logistical support for New Zealand Antarctic research projects and was Project Operator for the previous two ANDRILL Projects. They continue to provide support for work associated with the Coulman High Project.
